This was just fun and not super deep. It had the feel of a YA novel. Here’s a quick synopsis (many spoilers!): Diego is working, digging a hole, when he uncovers a box the size of a coffin. Long story short, it’s some kind of bridge to other dimensions, and “aliens” (really just people from other dimensions, I think) keep coming out of it. Each one has an agenda and is really good at talking people into joining them to save the earth. There’s a corporatist who wants The Botany Corporation to run the planet. A metricist, who wants everyone to use the metric system. A feminist. And an assassin nun, Patience. Diego and Patience sort of team up, and if the story has a point, it is the way both of them learn to think for themselves in a world run by people with agendas telling them how to think.
