How to Stay Married

K requested this book from the library. Somehow, my Libby app was logged in to her account, so I got the alert when it became available. I thought, hey, I must have put a hold on this and forgotten about it. So I downloaded it, started listening, and got hooked before I realized this wasn’t really my book.

This man’s pretty normal family was upended when his wife had an affair with a neighbor. Which she quickly broke off, only to resume the affair a few years later. Which she eventually broke off, only to move back in with the neighbor. There were so many times I thought this marriage was, in spite of the book’s title, definitely over. It’s incredible that they stayed together, and moreso that this was not just “for the kids.” Early on, a friend heard about the affair and said, “You’re going to fight for her, aren’t you? You need to fight for her.” And that comment may have made all the difference.
