Everybody Has a Podcast (Except You): A How-to Guide from the First Family of Podcasting

This book turned out to be pretty boring but full of good, practical advice for someone wanting to start a podcast. Which I don’t really want to do… so why was I listening to it? I don’t know!

A few notes on the gear they use/recommend:

• Microphone: Shure SM-58, $100
• Zoom H6 portable audio recorder
• Cad E100S (another microphone)
• Mic foam cover color coded to electrical tape on cables. Easy to set levels for mics by color
• DAW:
  • Audacity. Except two out of three McElroys violently oppose this recommendation.
  • Reaper? $60, but won’t eat your files like Audacity sometimes (never?) does.
  • Logic pro x (Mac-only, learning curve, but professional quality)
