Annihilation

by Jeff VanderMeer

I read this on my phone via Libby. He creates a weird, magical alternative world. Very little dialog. It makes you feel uncomfortable. Very well done, but I don’t need to read the next two books in the series.

Som quotes:

“When you see beauty in desolation it changes something inside you. Desolation tries to colonize you.”

“I felt as if I were both freer than ever before and more constrained,” one member of the expedition said. “I felt as if I could do anything as long as I did not mind being watched.”

“A name was a dangerous luxury here. Sacrifices didn’t need names.”

“Before she died, the psychologist said I had changed, and I think she meant I had changed sides.”
