Elevation

Typically engaging story, but nothing profound here. A 200+ pound guy starts losing weight without losing apparent mass (or muscle), mysteriously. The cause is never explained. He eventually befriends a same-sex couple that owns a vegetarian restaurant, and one of them helps him kill himself by shooting up into the sky and setting off some fireworks. Pretty depressing, when you think about it. No real horror element. In addition to the main story, there is a short story at the end where a guy gets eaten by an alligator.
